The Gaskill Legacy Society for Planned Giving

The Herbert Gaskill Legacy Society was formed in 2020 and honors individuals who have named the Denver Institute for Psychoanalysis in their will, trust, retirement plan, life insurance policy or any other estate plan.

An Institute Legacy: Herbert Gaskill, M.D.

Recruited to chair the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Colorado in 1952, Dr. Gaskill envisioned a psychoanalytic institute in Denver. Just a year later, his intelligence and energy were devoted to building a first-rate department of psychiatry with energies equally divided in clinical and research for the ultimate establishment of an Institute for Psychoanalysis. He recruited experienced analysts to join him to teach in the Department and to provide supervision and therapy. The Denver Institute for Psychoanalysis in was established in 1969.

Dr. Gaskill started a second term as director, at the age of 73, to lead the Institute out of an organizational impasse created by an illusory search for perfection. His honesty, integrity, genuine humility were an inspiration to everyone.

Dr. Gaskill’s generosity, modesty, strength, and endless questioning were a model for the psychoanalytically-informed life.

To continue Dr. Gaskill’s immense contribution to the psychoanalytic and psychiatric community, create your own legacy by joining The Herbert Gaskill Legacy Society and make a lasting difference in psychoanalysis for generations to come.

When you give, you are contributing to the creation and advancement of educational opportunities and to the expansion of the awareness and understanding of psychoanalytic concepts.

You don’t have to be rich and famous to make a contribution that can make a difference.  Providing first for the well-being of one’s family and loved ones, you can also bequeath an amount or percentage of your assets to The Denver Institute for Psychoanalysis to help our programs live on. Your gift will

    • help provide scholarships for students in our training programs;
    • subsidize our low-fee Referral services;
    • provide faculty development;
