Film Description: Directed by Wim Wenders and written by Sam Shepard, Paris, Texas tells the haunting and poetic story of Travis Henderson, a man who mysteriously reappears after four years missing, wandering the desert in a fugue-like state. As he slowly reconnects with his young son and estranged family, Travis embarks on a journey across the American Southwest to reconcile with his past and find the wife he left behind. With its sparse dialogue, evocative cinematography, and Ry Cooder’s unforgettable slide guitar score, the film explores themes of memory, identity, loss, and redemption through a deeply human lens.
Format: The evening will begin with a short presentation about the film followed by discussion. Please watch the film prior to the discussion. Due to the length of the film, only clips may be shown during the event. Paris, Texas is available to view with a premium subscription or rent on several platforms such as: Amazon, Hulu, Max, Apple TV, etc.
